Installation Instructions
1. Insert the Everyday Connections CD into your CD-ROM drive.
2. Double-click on the Everyday Connections CD icon.
3. In the window that opens, double-click on the Install Everyday Connections icon.
4. The Everyday Connections installer will launch. Follow the installer╒s prompts.
The Everyday Connections installer will, minimally, install QuickTime 4.1.2 (unless you have a more recent version of QuickTime on your computer), install a Everyday Connections folder on your hard disk, and install a Launch Everyday Connections shortcut icon on your desktop. To Launch Everyday Connections, make sure that the Everyday Connections CD-ROM is in your CD-ROM drive and double-click on the Launch Everyday Connections shortcut icon on your desktop.
In addition to the minimal installation described in the paragraph above, the Everyday Connections installer will also offer the opportunity to install the Netscape Communicator 4.77 web browser or the Internet Explorer 5.0 web browser.
The Netscape Browser Is Recommended
Everyday Connections is a product that runs within a web browser. Thus, a web browser must be present on your computer. Although either the Netscape Navigator/Communicator 4.x or higher web browser or the Internet Explorer 4.x or higher web browser is an acceptable browser with which to run Everyday Connections, the Netscape Navigator/Communicator browser is recommended. The primary reason for this recommendation is that the Netscape browser significantly reduces the time you will wait for each of the In Action! movies to load.
If you do not have a 4.x or higher version of the Netscape browser on your computer system and you would like to use Netscape to run Everyday Connections, re-run the Everyday Connections installer (by re-running the Install Everyday Connections file on the Everyday Connections CD-ROM) and in doing so should choose the Communicator 4.77 option from the Installation Options dialog box.
If You Do Not See the Introduction or Welcome! Movies
Some users may not see the Introduction movie or the movie on the Welcome! page. These users will see only a large white area in the browser window. This condition is often caused by the browser trying to run in a memory space that is too small. If you see only a large white area for the introduction movies or on the Welcome! page, follow the steps below to remedy the situation.
Step 1: Quit your web browser. If you are currently running your browser, select Quit from its File menu.
Step 2: Find your web browser on your hard drive. From the Finder, select Find from the File menu. To find Microsoft Internet Explorer, type Internet Explorer and press Return. To find Netscape Navigator or Communicator, type Netscape and press Return.
Step 3: Get information on your web browser. When you have found your web browser, click on its icon and press I. A window similar to the one below will appear. To see the window as it appears below, select Memory from the Show: menu.

Step 4: Increase the amount of memory allocated to your web browser. To increase the amount of memory your browser claims when it launches, change the number in the Preferred Size text box. Select the number from the list below:
╤ For Internet Explorer 4.0 through 5.0, use 7168.
╤ For Netscape Navigator or Communicator 4.0, use 9216.
╤ For Netscape Navigator or Communicator 4.5 and later, use 14984.
After typing the correct number, close the Info window. When launched, your web browser will now claim more of your computer╒s memory.
Step 5: Re-launch Everyday Connections to test the remedy. Now double click the Launch Everyday Connections icon. The Introduction and Welcome movies should appear. If not, repeat these steps adding 1000 to the Preferred Size.
